Terms of Service

App: Tsuyo, for iPhone and Android
Version: 1.0 · Effective: 2 November 2026

In short

  • Tsuyo is an app for training your fingers on a hangboard: workouts, timer, plan, tests and progress. It is not a medical device and does not replace a coach, a physiotherapist or a doctor.
  • A hangboard can hurt you. Fingers, tendons and pulleys get injured easily: warm up, increase loads slowly and stop if you feel pain (section 5).
  • It is for adults only.
  • Your data is yours. We use it only to make the app work. You can export and delete it whenever you want.
  • Many features are free. Tsuyo Pro is a subscription you pay through the App Store or Google Play, and cancel from the store.
  • AI workouts are suggestions: check loads and times before you start.
  • You keep all your consumer rights. Italian law applies.

1. Who provides the app

The Tsuyo app is provided by:

Francesca Barchietto, an individual
Strada Garella 78, 13900 Biella (BI), Italy
Email: info@tsuyo.app

In these terms "we" means Francesca Barchietto. "You" means the person using the app.

2. These terms

These terms are the contract between you and us for the use of Tsuyo: the app for iPhone and Android and the online services the app uses. If you download the app from the App Store, the app's licence is Apple's standard one (Licensed Application End User License Agreement); these terms complete it.

How we handle your data is explained in the privacy policy, a separate document: it is not part of this contract and we don't ask you to accept it, it is there to inform you.

By creating an account and using the app you accept these terms. If you don't accept them, don't use the app. If you already have saved data, you can delete it from the app (section 15).

Apple and Google are not parties to this contract. Section 13 explains their role.

3. What the app is, and what it isn't

What it is. Tsuyo helps you train your finger strength on a hangboard. It offers you:

  • a timer for hangs and rests, with sounds, voice, vibration, widgets and the lock screen;
  • workouts you create yourself or start from ready-made protocols, on catalogue hangboards or on the ones you draw;
  • a plan and multi-week programs;
  • strength tests and progress, with loads suggested from your tests;
  • with Tsuyo Pro, workouts generated with AI and the other features listed on the Pro page.

What it isn't.

  • It is not a medical device and it does not diagnose, treat or prevent injuries or illnesses.
  • It does not replace a coach, a physiotherapist or a doctor, or a check-up before you start training.
  • It doesn't see how you train. It doesn't check your hangboard, your technique, the weights or the pulley: calculations start only from what you enter.
  • It doesn't promise results, grades or improvement times.

4. Who can use the app

  • You must be at least 18. The app asks for your year of birth before saving your profile (see the privacy policy, section 11).
  • The app is for personal use, not commercial use. If you are a coach or a gym and want to use it with other people, write to us.
  • You can use it in the countries where it is available on the App Store or Google Play.

5. Your safety

The risk is real. Hangboard hangs put heavy strain on fingers, pulleys, tendons, wrists, elbows and shoulders. Finger injuries are among the most common in climbing and can take months to heal.

Before you start.

  • If you have had injuries to your fingers, hands, arms or shoulders, if you have pain or a medical condition, talk to a doctor or a physiotherapist before using the app.
  • If you've only just started climbing, the hangboard may not be right for you yet: the app tells you so, and suggests light loads.

While you train.

  • Warm up before every workout.
  • Increase loads slowly. Loads suggested by the app, programs and AI are estimates: they start from your tests and general formulas, and may be too high for you on a given day.
  • Stop immediately if you feel pain in your fingers or a "pop", and don't start again until the pain is gone. If it lasts, or if you felt a pop, see a doctor or a physiotherapist.
  • Respect the rests. The app's warnings (for example "no warm-up" or "more than your latest test") are there to protect you: read them.

Your equipment. The hangboard must be mounted properly, on a support that holds your weight plus added loads, following the manufacturer's instructions. Weights, harness, belts and pulleys must be suitable and in good condition. We can't check them: they are your responsibility.

The timer, sounds and notifications also depend on your phone, its settings, silent mode and battery. Always pay attention to your body, not just the timer.

If you get seriously hurt, call 112 or your country's emergency number.

6. Your account

  • To use the app you create an account with email and password. We recommend a password you don't use anywhere else.
  • Your credentials are yours. Don't give them to anyone. If you think someone has got into your account, change your password and write to us.
  • One account per person. Don't share your account and don't use someone else's.
  • Your email is used only for your account (confirming the address, signing in, resetting your password). Never for newsletters or ads.

7. Your content

It's yours. Workouts, notes, sessions, tests, hangboards you draw and photos remain yours. We don't become their owner.

The permission you give us. To make the app work you give us a free, non-exclusive and limited permission (a licence) to:

  • store your content on the servers and back it up;
  • transmit it between your devices and the servers;
  • show it to you in the app, in widgets and on the lock screen, and prepare its export;
  • send it to the AI when you generate a workout, as the privacy policy explains (section 3.5);
  • delete it when you ask.

The permission is only for this, and ends when you delete the content (with the technical backup times stated in the privacy policy).

What we don't do with your content. We don't publish it, sell it, give it to others, use it for advertising or use it to train artificial intelligence.

You can take it with you at any time with "Export my data".

8. Workouts generated with AI

  • With Tsuyo Pro you can ask AI for a workout. It is an automatic suggestion, not a coach's advice: it may contain mistakes, loads that are too high or exercises that don't suit you.
  • Always check loads, times and rests before you start, and change them if you're not convinced. The app's safety warnings apply to AI workouts too.
  • The AI has usage limits and may be unavailable at some times or in some countries.
  • Don't use the AI to ask for medical advice: if you're in pain, the app doesn't generate workouts and suggests rest.

9. How to use the app

Use the app lawfully and respectfully. In particular, you must not:

  • try to get into other people's accounts or data;
  • get around the servers' security rules, the app's checks or Tsuyo Pro's limits;
  • overload or disrupt the servers or the AI, or create accounts and requests automatically;
  • decompile or modify the app, except where the law allows it;
  • copy, sell, rent or distribute the app or its content.

If you breach this section seriously or repeatedly, we may suspend or close your account (section 15).

10. Protocols, the hangboard catalogue and trademarks

  • Protocols and advice are informational content, written from practices common in climbing training. They simplify, and they may change: we correct and update them.
  • The hangboard catalogue reproduces the shape and holds of commercial hangboards, to help you mark where you hang. Measurements may not be exact: if in doubt, the manufacturer's apply.
  • Hangboard trademarks (for example Beastmaker) belong to their owners. We use them only to tell you which hangboard it is. Tsuyo is not affiliated with or endorsed by these manufacturers.
  • Copyright. The app's texts, protocols, graphics, icon and name are protected by copyright and other rights of Francesca Barchietto or of those who licensed them to her. You can use them in the app for personal use. The Unbounded and Manrope fonts are distributed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.

11. Test versions, availability and changes

  • Test versions (TestFlight and Google Play testing) may have bugs, close unexpectedly or, in rare cases, lose data: export your data from time to time. Apple's and Google's terms also apply.
  • The app changes, for specific reasons. We change the app, protocols and features only to: fix bugs; add or improve features; improve security; update content; comply with the law or with Apple's and Google's rules. If a change makes your use of the app noticeably worse, we tell you in advance (as section 16 explains), and you can withdraw free of charge within 30 days.
  • Internet. The timer and workouts work without a connection. You need internet to sign in, sync, use the AI, make purchases and delete data.
  • No guarantee of continuous availability. We do our best, but the app also depends on third-party services (Google Firebase, Apple, Google Play, RevenueCat) and may stop for maintenance or failures.
  • If we ever close the service, we tell you at least 30 days in advance, on the website tsuyo.app and in the update notes, so you have time to export your data. If you have an active subscription, we stop offering renewals. We then delete the data as the privacy policy explains (section 8).

12. Tsuyo Pro

  • What's free. The timer, the workouts you create, the basic protocols, the plan and your history stay free.
  • What Pro includes. The Pro page in the app lists the included features (for example AI-generated workouts, multi-week programs, advanced tests and unlimited custom hangboards). Features may improve over time; if we remove an important one, section 11 applies.
  • Price and duration. Before you subscribe, the Pro page shows the price, the duration (monthly or annual) and any free trial, with the store price in your currency.
  • Payment and renewal. You pay through the App Store or Google Play. The subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, at the same price, until you cancel it. If there is a free trial, the paid period starts at the end of the trial unless you cancel at least 24 hours before.
  • Cancelling. Cancel from the App Store's or Google Play's subscription settings (in Tsuyo you'll find the link in Profile › Manage subscription). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid. Deleting your Tsuyo account does not cancel the subscription.
  • Refunds. Payments, invoices, renewals and refunds are handled by Apple or Google, under their terms. For a refund, contact the store you paid with.
  • Restoring. If you change phone or reinstall the app, you can restore Pro from the app, with the same store account.
  • Future prices. If we change the subscription price, the store tells you before the renewal and, if needed, asks you to accept it.
  • Your data is never held hostage. You can always export and delete it, even without Pro.

13. Apple and Google

If you use the app on iPhone, these rules apply, which reflect what Apple asks of developers:

  1. The parties. These terms are an agreement between you and Francesca Barchietto, not with Apple. Francesca Barchietto alone, not Apple, is responsible for the app and its content.
  2. The licence. The app's licence is Apple's standard one (section 2). It is non-transferable and lets you use the app on Apple-branded devices you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions. The app may also be used by other accounts linked to yours through Family Sharing, where the store allows it.
  3. Support. Maintenance and support are provided only by us (contacts in section 19). Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
  4. Warranty. We, not Apple, are responsible for the warranties on the app. If the app fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the price you paid for the app, if you paid for it. To the extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Any other claims, losses, damages or expenses due to a failure to conform to a warranty are our responsibility, not Apple's.
  5. Claims about the app. We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing claims by you or others about the app or its use. For example: product liability; the app failing to conform to a legal requirement; breaches of consumer protection or privacy laws.
  6. Third-party rights. If someone claims that the app or its use infringes their intellectual property rights, the investigation, defence, settlement and resolution are our sole responsibility, not Apple's.
  7. Embargoes. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  8. Third-party terms. When using the app you must also comply with applicable third-party terms, for example those of your mobile carrier.
  9. Apple as third-party beneficiary. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms. Upon your acceptance, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce them against you.

If you use the app on Android, you downloaded it from Google Play: Google Play's Terms of Service also apply. Google is not a party to this contract and is not responsible for the app; purchases made with Google Play follow its rules (section 12).

14. Warranties and liability

Our commitment. We take care that the app works and that its content is correct. Like any software, the app may have bugs; test versions are test versions (section 11).

Your consumer rights. If you are a consumer, you have all the rights the law gives you, including the legal guarantee of conformity for digital content and services under the Italian Consumer Code (Legislative Decree 206/2005, Articles 135-octies and following), where it applies. Nothing in these terms limits those rights.

Causes beyond our control. We are not liable for damage due to causes beyond our control, for example:

  • a hangboard, support, weights or pulley mounted or used badly, or defective;
  • using the app against the safety advice in section 5, or with loads you chose or didn't check;
  • failures of your network or phone, settings that block sounds or notifications, interruptions of Apple's or Google's services.

Your health. The app gives training information and suggestions, not medical advice: decisions about your training and your health remain yours.

Otherwise we are liable as the law provides. In particular, we do not exclude or limit our liability for wilful misconduct or gross negligence, or for death or personal injury caused by us.

15. Closing and deleting

You can stop whenever you want. To delete everything: Profile › Account › Delete account. Uninstalling the app does not delete the data on the servers. If you have Pro, also cancel the subscription from the store (section 12).

We may suspend or close an account in case of a serious or repeated breach of section 9 (for example an attack on the servers or abuse of the AI), or if the law requires it. Where we can, we warn you first and give you time to export your data, unless the law or security prevents it.

After closing, the licence ends, and we delete your data within 30 days, as the privacy policy explains (section 8). Sections 13, 14 and 17 remain in force.

16. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms only to: (a) adapt them to changes in the law or in Apple's and Google's rules; (b) describe new features or services; (c) correct errors or make the text clearer; (d) for security reasons. Any change that is not solely in your favour is announced at least 30 days before it takes effect, on the website tsuyo.app and in the app's update notes, except for urgent changes required by law. If you don't agree, you can withdraw free of charge: export and delete your data, and cancel your subscription.

The current version is always at tsuyo.app/terms. If you want a previous version of these terms, write to us and we'll send it.

17. Applicable law and disputes

  • These terms are governed by Italian law.
  • If you are a consumer living outside Italy, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of your country.
  • If you are a consumer, we can only bring proceedings against you before the court of the place where you reside or are domiciled. You can bring proceedings before that court; if you live in another EU country, also before the Italian courts.
  • First of all, write to us: we'll try to sort it out together. You can also turn to an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) body, as provided by the Italian Consumer Code.

18. Other clauses

  • If a clause of these terms is not valid, the others remain valid.
  • If we don't enforce one of our rights straight away, it doesn't mean we waive it.
  • You can't transfer this contract to others. We may transfer it to whoever continues to provide the app (for example a company set up by Francesca Barchietto), letting you know beforehand and without reducing your rights.
  • These terms exist in Italian and English. If the two versions differ, the one more favourable to you applies.
